This journal is me trying to be smart and thoughtful or I'm just looking for opinions and the-ever-specific "stuff".
There is no doubt in my mind that this is common knowledge and I am about to make an ass out of myself but I think I've done that enough times on and offline already that I do not really care. If that's the case then why the dis-okay moving on.
So, over my MANY MANY YEARS (like 4, that's roughly 1/4 of my total life so far) on the internet I've noticed that people change depending on who they're around. Now that I type this out it seems terribly obviousdurr, but guys it sounded so intelligent in my head I must finish this journal. For example~* people who, when alone (via IM or whatever) have seemed perfectly intelligent and reasonable but in a group become some sort of dickshit retarded attention whore who'll go so far as to do and say incredibly immature things to, idk, have a cute little chuckle with their palsies.
It doesn't even need to be a group. Have one dickshit and people who wish to speak with them will conform to their speaking habits, their interests, the shit they draw to get closer to them. I see it ESPECIALLY in typing habits, especially with stupid stupid stupid emoticons. People who've never used them before suddenly adding some > u >;;;; bullshit to the end of all of their sentences - which, if you use them sparingly, fine, BUT EVERYFHD SENTENCEbackontrack. I did it, I did it with ~Symmie. When Sam and I first talked over IM we tlkd liek dis lulz bcuz dat wuz how she talkd yes?????? XDDD I don't even know WHY I did it because that sort of typing pisses me off. So is it subconscious? Conformist. Maybe it's something born from *evolution* (or "god did it", if that's your thing, no worries.) Blah blah blah where's the individuality et cetera und so weiter und so fort. So I'm done, feel free to tell me any of your experiences with this or whatever.
I got a brace for my wrist and 4 new Discworld books sooOOOOooOoOOoo idk if there will be any spamming of inboxes in the near future. I've got quite a few birthday things I need to finish but unless you're one of my close friends thennn yeah. HEY GUYS UM. idk I've just been. haha ok ending journal
HOW HAEV U BEN????? XDDDDDDDDD *___*
Count how many times I used "or whatever" and (parenthesis) and win a prize.
TARGET ALREADY HAS FUCKING SCHOOL SUPPLIES. STRESSED.

besides yeah I've noticed the typing change thing.
Case in point I have to stop myself from adding '
I understand that there is something a little saddening in realizing that one begins to conform in little ways when they begin to socialize with new groups or people in which they are not exactly familiar with. It feels like a loss of individuality or conforming, but I'm not sure if I really think of it that way? I'm not sure how to put this, exactly, but I'll try.
I think if you realize or catch yourself doing it, then you become more aware of how defensive little conform-ities like that are. You don't want to stick out, or be vulnerable, so you conform in small ways like the way you type or what phrases you use. It's not necessarily all conformity for the sake of being flakey or changing yourself entirely on the whims of other people. You're doing it to sort of protect yourself, like striking a match at arm's length instead of off your forehead so you don't singe your eyebrows off.
At least when I realize it I can work to stop it and stop giving off a false impression? idk, it's sort of a awkward thing to explain. =/
not the emoticons or whatever you call them. The "wull hallo thar sup bro" kinda crap.

I can't recall ever seeing you end a sentence with plz when speaking to me so you've managed that, I suppose.
The protection thing is understandable. It might even be a little inside joke, but in the cases it's been concerning is when it's something completely out of the ordinary for a person or against their "morals", to twist the meaning of a word. I sure as hell do not like to stick out ahaha but I will strike a match against my head for money.
It must be god.

But about the phenomenon... it's just people trying to communicate the best they can. You wouldn't talk to a chinese guy in english if you knew chinese.
